Another Week Passes, More Chaos and Republican Capitulation

A fellow writer and broadcaster at Lanterns wrote an article asking if the GOP fractures, where can we turn?  My first thought was IF?

As a strict constitutionalist, I frequently find myself at odds with the Grand Old Party.  When you look at the party platform, it talks about a smaller, restrained federal government, lower taxes, and less spending.  I have to wonder, smaller compared to what?  Restrained, how and when? Lower taxes and less spending, really?  I see full blown socialists and progressives on the left and a somewhat “Lite” version on the right.

“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government IS the problem. It isn't so much that liberals are ignorant, it's just that they know so much that isn't so.”  --Ronald Reagan

I refuse to use the term “liberal.” I call them what they are-- progressives, on both sides of the aisle.  We have to face the fact that the original 20th-century progressive president was not a Democrat, Woodrow Wilson, but Republican, Teddy Roosevelt.  Ronald Reagan saw things for what they were, and he just used the accepted term of the day.  We have to recognize that the Republican leadership and most of the members in both houses are progressives as well.

The debacle that is healthcare still permeates the news and our lives. The problem is very real. People are having their lives turned upside down.  I believe the chaos is intentional.  In the end, people will cry out for the government to fix it-- again, and this time, it will be Medicare for all or some similar socialist solution.  I did a short video earlier this week discussing the root cause of the mess.

I also wrote a more in-depth article this past week. People are going to have to stop looking to the government and politicians to solve their problems.  As Reagan said, they are the problem.  I talked in this week’s podcast about how problems used to be solved.  Our government is incapable of fixing anything!

Listen to "Healthcare, government responsibility and our responsibility" on Spreaker.

The Republican party is itself, RINO, or Republican In Name Only.  As citizens, we must stop relying on sending politicians to Washington to fix things.  Trump cannot do it.  It is a machine, a leviathan--  Dr. Frankenstein’s monster.  “Drain the swamp” might be a popular phrase, but it is an impossible dream.

We are the root cause.  Our apathy towards the republic, taking it for granted, thinking we can tend to our selfish desires without consequences are the causes of our predicament.

Until we become the people required for a just society, we will get the government we deserve.
